2009 Spring/Summer Season


Wings Premier

Scott Gainey – After a 3 year career playing minor pro hockey, Scott began his coaching career as a member of the NHL's Florida Panthers power skating staff, working with minor league players in the Panthers organization.  Scott is currently the Head Coach of the Xavier High School varsity hockey team.

Rob Gagnon – Rob is currently the head coach at Cushing Academy.

Midget Major Wings

Tim Viens 
– Tim played prep school at the Kent School before going onto play Division I at Fairfield University.   Tim was an assistant coach for Rocky Hill-Rham from 2006-08 before he joined the Northern Conn. Wings staff and now the CT Lazers.  Last season, Tim coached the Northern Conn. Wings JR. A team and the Fall Midget split season team that went on to only lose 1 game. 


Midget Minor Wings

Matt Coates – Matt is currently the CT Lazers goalie coach and previously coached the Northern Conn. Wings Fall Midgets.  Before Matt started coaching, he played for Northeastern University in HockeyEast.  He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Northern Conn. Wings and we look forward to Matt coaching the Midget Minor team this spring.

Dan Giordano – Dan has been with the CT Lazers since 2001 as former General Manager and coach. In Dan's last three seasons with the Lazers as head coach, in the Metropolitian Boston Hockey League, he had a record of (44-16-10). He has been able to take his teams to many tournaments through out the United States and Canada (Quebec Pee Wee International, Silver Sticks, Chicago Mission/Chill, NAPS, Mission Cup, Warrior Meltdown, Toronto Wonderland).  In his last two seasons he has assisted many of his players to get into Prep schools, and has prepared them for High School.


'95 Wings

Matthew Greason 
– Matt enters his second season as an assistant men's ice hockey coach for the Bantams.  His duties include recruiting and video coordinator.  He also works with the forwards and in all facets of special teams preparation.  Greason grew up in North Bridgton, Maine and attended North Yarmouth Academy.  After NYA, he took a post-graduate year at the Hill School in Pottstown, Pa. and matriculated to Trinity College where he played hockey for the Bantams from 1998-2002.  He was a two time all-league player while captaining the Bantams his senior season.  Upon graduation from Trinity, Greason started his coaching career at Kingswood-Oxford school for one year and continued on as the head JV coach and assistant varsity coach over a four-year stay at Kent School.  Over the last six years, Greason has been on the staff for the Atlantic District of USA hockey coaching the best players from the New Jersey and Philadelphia area.  He has also been the guest lecturer at the level 3 and 4 coaching education program for USA hockey. 


'96 Wings

John Stanton – John has been a coach with the Northern Connecticut Wings organization since its inception in 2003, coaching various levels during that time. John spent several years as a head coach in the West Hartford Youth Hockey organization where he led his Squirt Major team to the New England Regional Championship in 2002. John is also a coach of the 1996 Connecticut Lazer team. After three years as an assistant coach with Conard High School, John joined the staff at Xavier High School this past year as an assistant. John played high school hockey for Archbishop Williams in Braintree (MA) and went to play college hockey for Norwich University.

Greg Raymer – Greg played his Junior hockey with the New England Falcons under the legendary Gary Dineen.  He was also a high school standout at E.O. Smith.  Greg has an extensive coaching background as an assistant coach with Rockville High school and as well as Central Connecticut State University.


'97 Wings

John McCormick – John played for Avon Old Farms School Under John Gardner for 3 seasons and was captain his senior year.  He then went on to play at Connecticut College, NESCAC Division III for both hockey and lacrosse until graduation in 1987.  He has coached at the AAA/youth hockey level for the past 5 years for Simsbury, Northern Conn. Wings and most recently the CT Lazers 97's.  During 1988 and 1989 he coached the Milford Blues AAA Summer program at the '77 level which included NHL players Chris Drury, Jeff Halpern and Chris Clark.  He enjoys working with the boys on hockey fundamentals both on and off the ice.

Francois Morin – Francois grew up and played youth hockey in Quebec.  Over the last 7 plus years, he has been a head coach in the Simsbury youth hockey program, from the Mite in-house level through Pee-Wee.  He looks forward to working with the players on improving their skills and getting them to the next level.


'98 Wings

Mark Blad  Mark is currently the head coach of the Squirt Major CT Lazers where he has taken a young team that has had little expereince playing together and helped grow and teach the game to a group that is now in the top half of the MBHL.  Before this season, Mark was an Assistant Coach for the Squirt Minor CT Lazers with Jon Gehris.  He has also coached with the Northern Conn. Wings summer program at the 98 level.  Mark  brings with him 10 years of coaching experience.  Before he started coaching he played his high school for West Springfield, where he was captain his Junior and Senior year, a team he helped lead to the Western Mass. Championship.
 
Robert Ceolin  Robert grew up in Montreal where he played hockey and football for Concordia University. He has been a head/assistant coach for 7+ years, coaching levels from Mite to Pee-Wee with the Florida Jr. Panthers organization.  Robert has been involved with the CT Lazers and the Northern Conn. Wings organization for the past 2 years.



'99 Wings

Bill Bolton  Bill’s reputation as an effective instructor and motivator has been earned in youth hockey, high school, and junior programs in arenas throughout the country.  Over the past 20 years, Bill has coached and developed players at all levels from Mites through Juniors in Massachusetts, Maine, Virginia, and Connecticut.  Most recently, he was the founder and owner of the Connecticut Lazers AAA hockey program from 2001 through 2007 which offered teams from the Squirt Major level up through Juniors in the Empire Junior Hockey League, Metropolitan Boston Hockey League, and New England Elite Hockey League.  During that time, Bill coached teams to 5 MBHL championships, 1 NEEHL championship, and served as the league’s all-star coach.  Now as a former owner of the Lazers program, Bill is looking forward to continuing his coaching career within the program he once founded.  In addition to his coaching experience Bill continues to be a valuable scout and resource for Prep Schools throughout New England.

Dave Roberts  Dave has over 20 years of coaching experience including all levels from youth to college.  Dave was most recently the head coach at Loomis Chaffee Boys Varsity hockey team, which played in one of the top prep-school leagues, The Founders League.  Before Loomis, Dave coached with the CT Lazers Junior and Youth hockey teams and as well was the former co-founder and president.  Dave also coached at the college level as an Assistant at Wesleyan University and Head Coach at CCSU.
  
Jon Gehris  Jon has 10 plus years of coaching experience, including all levels of youth hockey.  He coached with the South Windsor youth hockey program, age groups mites through bantams.  As well, Jon has coached with the CT Lazers AAA Bantam and Squirt teams.  He coached with the USA Metro Selects AAA Summer Squirt, Pee-Wee and Bantam teams.  Last year, Jon coached the Northern Conn. Wings 98 summer team.
